Through the mishaps with the Boeing 737 MAX, the overall certification of aircraft has come into the spotlights recently. In his presentation, the speaker will start with a bit of history and highlight the roles of ICAO (Annex 8) and EASA (Basic Regulation) in this process.
Much attention will be given to “Part 21”: the main reference for certification of aircraft and related products and parts. This main regulation not only covers type certification, changes and repair, parts and appliances, but also the production of aircraft itself.
Additional discussed topics will include Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreements, Part 21 ‘light” for general aviation aircraft, and the certification of drones and air taxis.
Finally, the speaker will address the consequences of the Boeing 737 MAX for future certification of aircraft and elaborate on other improvements.
